Byrd
Peer Support Coach
Hello! I'm Byrd [they/them/theirs/elle], a Disability, Chronic Illness, & Neurodivergent Peer Support Coach dedicated to creating safe, empathetic spaces for individuals navigating the complexities of balancing health, healthcare providers, relationships, personal growth, and self-advocacy. As someone with lived experience in these areas, I can provide a listening ear and deep understanding.
My coaching approach is grounded in authenticity, compassion, empathy, and a deep commitment to validating your journey. Together, we'll explore strategies tailored to your needs whether you're seeking guidance with self-care, managing relationships, dealing with obtaining diagnoses, building routines, or navigating the system that impacts your life.
I work with disabled, chronically ill, and neurodivergent individuals- with specialities in ME/CFS, Long Covid, Autism, and ADHD- to help you feel seen, heard, and empowered. My goal is to honor your pace, celebrate your strength, uncover practical tools and tips to support your goals, but most of all, listen and empathize.
You don't have to do this alone- together we can navigate the journey toward a more fulfilling, supported life.

What is a Peer Support Coach?
A Peer Support Coach [AKA Disability Doula] is a professional who provides guidance, emotional support, and practical assistance to individuals navigating the challenges of disability, chronic illness, or neurodivergence. Rooted in lived experience and a deep understanding of the unique obstacles we face, my work focuses on empowering clients to build fulfilling lives aligned with their needs and values.
I provide holistic support, often drawing from the concept of traditional doulas, to help individuals adapt to life with a disability or chronic illness.
My work includes emotional care, advocacy, and practical guidance during transitions like receiving a new diagnosis, adjusting to mobility aids, or processing feelings of grief or loss. I aim to create a compassionate space for clients to process their experiences and access resources to live fully.
How I Help:
- Offering emotional support and validation.
- Assisting with life transitions or navigating systems like education, employment, and healthcare.
- Co-creating plans to manage energy, boundaries, and self-care.
- Addressing feelings of isolation by fostering a sense of community and belonging.
-Navigating what tests or diagnostic procedures can get you answers
- Supporting self-advocacy and helping clients develop communication strategies.
A peer support coach or disability doula bridges the gap between medical, social, and personal needs, offering holistic care and understanding for clients seeking a more supported and empowered life.
